Apple rumored to be readying iPhone overhaulNovember 25, 2016 - 15:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sure, it may be essentially a full year until Apple drops its next iPhone upgrade, but that doesn't mean we can't all get overly excited for it. And thankfully, thanks to the whispers filling the corridors of the internet, a picture of the tentatively named iPhone 8 is already being building up, Digital Spy said. It already appears to be pretty certain the next handset will switch to an OLED display, but well-known Apple leaker Ming-Chi Kuo has also delivered another report about the upcoming model. In a fresh research note obtained by MacRumors, Kuo indicates that the Cupertino giant will drop an all-glass device in 2017 in order to enable support for wireless charging. This switch will sweep aside any wireless charging issues which can arise with a metal body, and of course return the company to the familiar design of the iPhone 4, which featured a glass rear. As Kuo writes in his note: "In order to ensure a superior performance, we believe it is most appropriate for EMS suppliers to develop and make the wireless charger because then a comprehensive test can be conducted. "As Hon Hai needs to deploy most resources to develop and produce [an] OLED iPhone, we expect Pegatron will be the exclusive supplier of the wireless charger." Kuo also hinted that the wireless charger could come packaged alongside the iPhone 8, though even he isn't entirely confident in that. “Of course, despite his impressive record, there's no guarantee that Kuo's information is accurate. With such a long time to go before anything becomes official, plans are also still subject to change. In other words: add a pinch of salt to any report you hear while simultaneously dreaming of a glass design and wireless charging,” Digital Spy said.
