Following this period, however, a large portion of our population started practicing the church life, and Georgian mothers (including gynecologists) who are concerned about the sin of abortion, expressed a desire to build the Holy Trinity church as a sign of repentance," the Patriarchate said. The church will be built in the territory adjacent to the Khudadov forest in the Georgian capital. In 2012, 40,000 abortions were officially registered, the number decreased to 33,000 in 2014. According to the National Statistics Service Geostat, 9% more boys were born than girls in the country in 2015. In general, birth rate in Georgia dropped by 2.3% in 2015 year on year, while mortality rate surged by 0.7%.
