TBS looking to “Wet Hot American Summer” revival team for next comedyDecember 19, 2016 - 14:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - TBS is looking to the Wet Hot American Summer revival team for its next comedy, The Hollywood Reporter said. The Turner-owned cable network has put in development Moon Cruise, starring Michael Ian Black and produced by his Wet Hot colleagues Michael Showalter, Jonathan Stern and David Wain. Moon Cruise, a half-hour single-camera comedy, is described as The Love Boat but set in space. Additional plot details are being kept under wraps. Black created the concept and will star in the comedy. He'll also exec produce alongside Showalter, Stern and Wain. The TBS comedy marks the latest collaboration for Black with Showalter, Stern and Wain. The actor-producer will next reprise his role as McKinley in Netflix's second revival of Showalter and Wain's Wet Hot franchise: Ten Years Later. The comedy is due in 2017 and follows the 2015 Netflix revival of the cult feature film Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Black's TV credits include Comedy Central's Another Period and TV Land's late but great The Jim Gaffigan Show. He's repped by UTA and Ted Schachter. For TBS, Moon Cruise expands its relationship with Showalter, who co-created Search Party. The comedy starring Alia Shawkat was renewed for a second season earlier this week. The cable network, under Kevin Reilly, has rebranded to focus on edgier fare in a bid to cut through a crowded landscape. TBS' entire 2016 slate was comprised of freshman scripted comedies (and animated veteran American Dad). The cabler renewed all of them, including Angie Tribeca, The Detour, People of Earth and Wrecked.
