“Moonlight” leads London Critics' Circle Film Awards noms

PanARMENIAN.Net - Outside of costume design, Love & Friendship may not be considered to be among the Academy Awards hopefuls. But Whit Stilman's period comedy has emerged as a leader of the pack for London Critics' Circle Film Awards, for which nominations were announced Tuesday, December 20, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film tied with Moonlight – which is very much considered in the running for a few Oscars come February – with seven nominations and is both up for film of the year alongside several acting honors.

Maren Ade's German comedy Toni Erdmann was close behind with six nominations, while La La Land, Manchester by the Sea and American Honey each earned five.

The winners will be voted on by the 140 members of the film section of the Critics' Circle, the U.K.'s leading and longest-standing film critics group. The ceremony is set to take place on Jan. 22 at London's May Fair Hotel.
