Will Smith, Tom Hanks to star in Disney’s live-action “Dumbo”January 12, 2017 - 10:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Disney's live-action adaption of its classic animation "Dumbo" is slowly shaping up with actors circling the project. Reports say that Will Smith is in early talks with Disney to star in the "Dumbo" remake, AceShowbiz reveals. Conversations have reportedly taken place despite the fact that no offer has been made. If the deal is sealed, the actor will play a father who works at the big top and whose children develop a relationship with the mammal. However, a new "Bad Boys" sequel appears to be a potential stumbling block for the "Suicide Squad" star to join the Disney movie as it might be on course around the same time as "Dumbo". The "Men in Black II" star is currently filming Netflix's "Bright", directed by David Ayer. "Bright" is described as a sci-fi fantasy police adventure. A source also tells Variety that Tom Hanks has been offered the villain role in "Dumbo". However, it is still uncertain whether the "Inferno" star will take the role or choose to star in the World War II drama titled "The Grey Hound" instead. "Dumbo" is about a baby circus elephant who is ridiculed for his large ears but later manages to get through all the hardship with the help of a mouse. Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland" and "Edward Scissorhands") will direct the upcoming movie, with a screenplay penned by Ehren Kruger ("The Ring", "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"). A release date for the movie has not been set yet. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
