Berlin Film Fests unveils full lineup for its Panorama documentary sidebarJanuary 18, 2017 - 12:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Berlin film festival has unveiled the full lineup for its Panorama documentary sidebar, adding more than a dozen world premieres to its nonfiction selection, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. Among the docs that will first unspool in Berlin this year are Erase and Forget, Andrea Luka Zimmerman's attempt to tell the true story about the man who inspired Rambo; Andrea Weiss' Bones of Contention, a look at the oppression of LGBT people in Spain during the Franco dictatorship; and Belinda, Marie Dumora's look at the Yenish, one of Europe's largest groups of nomadic peoples, which will open the Panorama documentary section Feb.10. Politics, always front-and-center at the Berlin film festival, again dominates the documentary selection, which includes films looking at the otherworldly fantasies that inspire Islamic terrorists (Merzak Allouache's Investigating Paradise); at the experiences of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention centers (Raed Andoni's Ghost Hunting); and at the gay rights movement in West Berlin from the 1960s to 1980s (Jochen Hick’s My Wonderful West Berlin). Music, another Berlin festival speciality, is represented by a trio of docs: Margarete Kreuzer's Revolution of Sound. Tangerine Dream looks at Edgar Froese's ground electronic music group; Romuald Karmakar explores Germany's club music scene in If I Think of Germany at Night; and Chavela by Catherine Gund and Daresha Kyi, is an homage to the Mexican singer Chavela Vargas.
