Einstein covers Lady GaGa's “Bad Romance” in new promo for “Genius”

PanARMENIAN.Net - National Geographic has released its first Super Bowl advertisement for "Genius". The promo features Albert Einstein, who is portrayed by Geoffrey Rush, as he's seen strumming his violin in a place which looks like a vacant office, AceShowbiz said.

When he first started, it's kind of hard to guest what song he's playing. But as the melody builds, it becomes clear that he's playing one of Lady GaGa's hits, "Bad Romance". At the end of the video, Einstein concludes his performance by sporting his signature, a goofy face complete with a tongue out.

"The song selection is a double entendre, actually," said National Geographic Global Networks CEO Courteney Monroe of using GaGa's song. "Not many people know that [Einstein] had a series of 'bad romances' in his life." Monroe added, "You've only seen the crazy hair and learned about his intellectual advances."

"Genius" is the first scripted series from National Geographic. The series follows Albert Einstein and his journey from being a young imaginative, rebellious patent clerk who couldn't get a teaching job or doctorate, to a legendary physicist.

The series also stars Johnny Flynn as young Einstein and Emily Watson as Elsa Einstein. Michael McElhatton, Seth Gabel, Samantha Colley, Richard Topol and Vincent Kartheiser are also set to appear on the show.

"Genius" premieres on Tuesday, April 25 on National Geographic.
