Joint use of Gabala radar base to be discussed in Moscow Oct. 12September 27, 2007 - 16:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Russian Minister of Defense and U.S. Secretary of Defense will discuss the possibility of joint use of the Gabala radar base at a meeting in Moscow October 12, RF Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasily Istratov told a news conference in Baku."The issue will be a part of the Moscow-Washington dispute over the anti-missile defense shield," he said, Novosti Azerbaijan reports. "Certainly, Gabala will not be the only topic of discussion," Amb. Istratov added. The first meeting of U.S. and Russian experts was held in Baku September 18. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
