The network has picked up "Billions" for its third season, after airing six episodes of the second season, AceShowbiz said. " 'Billions' continues to be a show on the rise, growing not only in audience, but in critical buzz and cultural relevance," Showtime Networks president and CEO David Nevins said in a statement. He continued, "It offers a unique mix of pure entertainment with sly commentary on our current have/have-not economy. Season two is off to a tremendous start, and has only whetted our audience's appetite for what will come in season three." "Billions" has been steadily garnering 4.4 million viewers after premiering 14 months ago. The drama, starring Paul Giamatti (Chuck Rhoades) and "Homeland" alum Damian Lewis (Bobby "Axe" Axelrod), is currently airing its sophomore season after flagship "Homeland". "Billions" joins other series which have been renewed for another season by the network, including "Homeland" and "Shameless". Other series that get renewal are "Ray Donovan" and "The Affair". Created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and New York Times financial columnist Andew Ross Sorkin, "Billions" follows the perennial clashing of a U.S. Attorney (Giamatti) and a hedge-fund king (Lewis) on a quest for personal and professional domination. Also starring on the series are Maggie Siff as Wendy Rhoades and Malin Akerman as Lara Axelrod. "Billions" airs Sundays at 10 P.M. on Showtime.
