Armenia elections: CIS mission chief meets OSCE/ODIHR counterpart![]() March 22, 2017 - 12:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Chief of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) observation mission Evegeniy Sloboda met with the OSCE/ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) mission chief Jan Petersen in Yerevan. Both missions have arrived in Armenia to observe the elections to the National Assembly, to be held on April 2. Nine parties and blocs running for seats at the National Assembly have already launched their election campaigns. At the meeting, the two discussed the process of election campaigns, agreed to maintain working communications and arrange a meeting between the mission chiefs on election day. The CIS observation mission involves a total of 171 observers, representing Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State and the CIS Executive Committee. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
