Kazakh football team unable to leave Armenia due to aircraft malfunction

PanARMENIAN.Net - The plane carrying Kazakhstan's national football team had to make an emergency landing at Yerevan's Zvartnots airport, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.

"The captain made a decision to return to the airport shortly after takeoff," the teams' spokesman Yerbol Kairov tweeted.

"The plane had to return to Yerevan because of a landing gear failure. The team will board another aircraft for Kazakhstan."

Armenia beat Kazakhstan 2-0 on Sunday, March 26 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The team thus registered their second win in Group E with second-half goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aras Ozbiliz.
