UN WFP and Norwegian refugee council quit activities in Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) will phase out operation in Azerbaijan in mid-2008, said Gurban Sadigov, Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers officer for refugees, IDPs, migration and international relations.

"Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov has sent a letter to the NRC head office and asked the organization to join future projects in Azerbaijan," he noted.

He attributed completion of World Food Program to declining donations and evaporation of emergency situation concerning internally displaced persons, APA reports.
