For his part, Mr Davis said he was glad to get familiarized with some historical and cultural sites in Armenia, specifically the Matenadaran, Memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims, temple of Haghpat. During the meeting the parties discussed Armenia's integration into European structures, They agreed that it's essential to make the 2008 presidential elections an advance as compared to the parliamentary elections. Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr Davis said the Council of Europe is not a passive observer of the problem but contributes to establishment of trust between the sides. Welcoming this position, Serge Sargsyan said that at the current stage any partial approach of organizations or individuals can become a tool of pressure on the OSCE Minsk Group or the conflicting sides.
