OSCE co-chairs will visit South Caucasus in summer: U.S. envoy

PanARMENIAN.Net - The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group will visit the South Caucasus region in June or early July, U.S. co chair Richard E. Hoagland said on Friday, May 12, according to Trend.

Hoagland said earlier that Moscow seeks no war in Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh).

Citing disagreements between the United States and Russia, the ambassador said both countries nevertheless cooperate to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the South Caucasus.

Moscow wants no clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he said, adding that the war would destabilize the region and harm Russia's own interests.

The Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers - Edward Nalbandian, Sergey Lavrov and Elmar Mammadyarov – held a working meeting in Moscow on April 28.

At the meeting, the officials continued discussions on the prospects of the Karabakh conflict settlement talks, stressing the need to implement the agreements reached at the Vienna and St. Petersburg summits in April and June 2016.
