IMF ASSISTS IN "MECHANISM OF GROWTH FINANCING AND POVERTY REDUCTION" PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION IN ARMENIAOctober 2, 2002 - 00:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The International Monetary Fund executive council has approved granting $ 26 million within the framework of "Mechanism of financing growth and poverty reduction" program to Armenia. At that, the Council made a decision to take into consideration the Armenian government's request on concessions regarding the departure from the planned activities. During the discussion of the economic activities in Armenia, IMF deputy managing director Eduardo Aninat stated that active economic growth, low inflation, increase of real economic incomes, reduction in poverty level has been recently observed in Armenia. In his words, though in 2001 the level of tax collecting was low and the process of energy system reforms became slower, the attempts to improve the situation in these spheres made in 2002 have already had positive results.
