ARFD sure to discuss Armenian PM’s post with RPA ‘in near future’![]() July 18, 2017 - 22:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Aghvan Vardanyan from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation - Dashnaktsutyun said on Tuesday, July 18 that the ARFD will certainly discuss the issue of the prime minister’s post with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) “in the near future.” According to Vardanyan, however, the question of who will head the government after Serzh Sargsyan’s term as president ends in 2018 is not the most urgent issue facing Armenia at the moment. “The coalition agreement (between the ARFD and the RPA) clearly states that the right to nominate the prime minister belongs to the majority, i.e. to the RPA,” RFE/RL Armenian Service cited the former lawmaker as saying. “Of course, it’s important for Dashnaktsutyun who will be the PM, but we believe that the two most important issues are that of security of both Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh), and that of the Armenian economy.” Earlier, President Sargsyan said it doesn’t matter who will be Armenia’s prime minister in 2018. The Armenian opposition has been insisting on some clarity about the position of the prime minister after Sargsyan’s term as president ends in 2018. Various RPA officials used to say that Karen Karapetyan will continue heading the cabinet, but opinions come to vary lately. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
