PACE cultural heritage committee rapporteur confirmed intention to visit South CaucasusJanuary 25, 2008 - 18:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The PACE committee on culture, science and education discussed the possibility of a sending a fact-finding mission to the South Caucasus, the RA NA press office reported. Summing up the results of meetings with the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations, committee rapporteur Edward O'Hara confirmed his intention to visit South Caucasus only in case of unimpeded access to the sites where the condition of cultural monuments arouses concerns. For his part, member of the RA delegation to PACE Raffi Hovannisian pointed out to the difference between destruction of cultural monuments during a war and deliberate demolition of the old Armenian cemetery in Old Djulfa 11 years after sealing armistice. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
