More than 100 athletes from 17 countries were participating in the sporting event. Vardanyan (68kg weight category) holds a number of titles. He is a world champion and a multiple award winner at world and European championships, Armenia's sambo federation says. Besides the Armenian sambo wrestler, four athletes from Russia, one from Mongolia and one from South Korea were also announced as tournament winners.
