Azerbaijan releases shipment for Iran's Bushehr NPP

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan released a shipment of Russian equipment for Iran's first nuclear power plant on Thursday, more than a month after it was halted at its border, Azeri MFA spokesman Khazar Ibrahim said.

Azerbaijan had halted the cargo of heat-isolating equipment headed for the Bushehr plant on March 29, demanding more information from Russia about the nature of the material. Azerbaijani officials said they feared the equipment could violate United Nations sanctions.

The Russian state-run company building Bushehr, OAO Atomstroiexport, accused Azerbaijan of deliberately obstructing the cargo, the AP reports.
