Serzh Sargsyan: Karabakh issue can be resolved through "int'l coercion"![]() August 19, 2020 - 15:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has said that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can only be resolved through "international coercion" as no Azerbaijani leader will voluntarily agree to Karabakh's independence. Sargsyan said Wednesday, August 19 that Armenia emerged victorious in the Four-Day War of April 2016, and that he or the country's armed forces have made no mistake that is worth talking about. Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military offensive across the entire line of contact with Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh). Clashes that began in the wee hours of April 2 in 2016 lasted four days and were later dubbed the Four-Day War or the April War. "To be honest, we have never measured victory in meters or kilometers. Our unit of measurement is the failure of Azerbaijan's plans, and that the president of that country publicly declares that he is being forced to recognize Karabakh's independence," Sargsyan told reporters. According to him, success can be measured by political statements, statements by mediators who declare that Azerbaijan's behavior is unacceptable. Sargsyan earlier revealed why Armenia did not deploy Iskander ballistic systems against Azerbaijan during the Four Day War in April 2016. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
