Armenia: Lawmaker resigns amid "disagreements" with Education Minister![]() September 10, 2020 - 10:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Lawmaker and wrestler Arsen Julfalakyan is resigning from parliament citing disagreements with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan. He will be replaced by Narek Ghahramanyan, who at one point held the position of the acting head of Kapan community of Syunik province. Julfalakyan said in a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 9 that those disagreements are about the management approaches of the fields under Harutyunyan. "The path [he has] adopted is unpromising, it will not ensure the solution and development of the problems we have in those fields," Julfalakyan wrote. According to the former lawmaker, "the fields of education, science, culture, sports are developing mostly in the wrong direction, the professional opinions of industry representatives are not taken into account, short-term and long-term visions of development are lacking, changes do not have the necessary speed and logic." Julfalakyan was a member of the ruling My Step faction and was elected to the parliament in 2018. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
