"Art among the ruins": Elif Shafak on moving performance at church bombed in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Elif Shafak, a British writer of Turkish descent and the author of the bestseller "The Bastard of Istanbul", has shared a video of Belgian-Armenian musician

Sevak Avanesyan playing cello at Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi, which was earlier bombed by Azerbaijan.

“Art among the ruins”, Shafak wrote to caption Avanesyan's performance on Twitter.

Shafak said her post is for everyone who believes in peace and does not stop defending it.

On October 8, Azerbaijan shelled the main church of Shushi twice, injuring civilians and three Russian journalists who were inside the cathedral at the moment of the second strike.

Avanesyan had visited Shushi to perform "Crane" by Komitas inside the cathedral ruined in Azerbaijan's bombing.
