Over 1,700 Karabakh residents return home

PanARMENIAN.Net - More than 1,700 Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) residents who were forced to leave their homes due to the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan have already returned from Armenia to Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh, since November 14, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

A convoy of 24 buses accompanied by the Russian peacekeeping contingent and military police transported 502 refugees from Yerevan to the central square of Stepanakert on Wednesday, November 18.

The safety of refugees returning to their homes is ensured by the Interdepartmental Humanitarian Response Center, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Russian peacekeepers escorted 9 buses (250 people) through the Lachin corridor on November 14, 19 buses (475 people) on November 15, and 19 buses (482 people) on November 16.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan has said he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
