Turkey, Russia sign deal on Karabakh ceasefire monitoring center

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ankara and Moscow have signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint monitoring center to control the implementation of the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Turkish Defense Ministry said Tuesday, December 1, according to TASS.

"Russia and Turkey have completed technical negotiations on the creation and operation of the center for monitoring the Karabakh ceasefire, the agreement has been signed," the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Operation of the center is expected to start in the near future as preparations are still ongoing, the ministry added.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side is returning all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
