PanARMENIAN.Net - Lithuania is proud to be the 1st country in the world to have recognized the independence of Armenia, the country's Embassy in Yerevan said in a message to mark the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

"This year marks 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Armenia. The cooperation has since deepened and expanded, creating a strong partnership and close cooperation in many areas," the message reads.

"Lithuania is proud to be the 1st country in the world to have recognized the independence of Armenia, and one of the first countries with which Armenia established diplomatic relations in 1991."

In 2021, the Lithuanian mission said, the Embassy's activity will be dedicated to the anniversary.

Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Lithuania were established on November 21, 1991, exactly two months after Armenia's independence on September 21, 1991. Lithuania has also recognized the Armenian Genocide.
