Pashinyan touts Karabakh "secession for salvation" in future talks

Pashinyan touts Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is going to raise the issue of de-occupation of the territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast and the "secession for salvation" principle, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament on Wednesday, April 14, when discussing the future of the negotiation process.

Pashinyan specifically stressed that the matter must be formulated not as a military question, but a political issue in the negotiation process.

"You saw what happened in Azerbaijan yesterday or the day before," Pashinyan said, referring to the opening of a "military trophy park" where alongside Armenian equipment seized during hostilities, wax figures of what Azerbaijan claims to be Armenian servicemen, as well as their personal belongings and the helmets of fallen Armenian troops are also displayed.

"It's just unbelievable, and we must use every platform we have to draw everyone's attention [to the fact] that a country can host a museum of war sufferings and victims, which is the greatest manifestation of hatred against Armenians."

"This is the biggest basis for us to show the international community the applicability of the "secession for salvation" principle for Karabakh, which should be in the core of the future negotiation process," the PM noted.

After the "park" was inaugurated in Baku, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said Azerbaijan seeks to publicly degrade the memory of the victims of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, missing persons and prisoners of war, violating the rights and dignity of their families.
