  Samantha Power confirmed to lead USAID April 29, 2021 - 10:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The United States Senate on Wednesday, April 28 confirmed human-rights activist and President Barack Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power to lead the U.S. Agency for International Development. "Thank you everyone for your support these last months—I’m so grateful for this bipartisan vote of confidence from the Senate, and so energized to be joining the incredible @USAID team to get big things done," Power said in a tweet. "The Agency’s work around the world has never been more vital." The agency is one of the world’s largest distributors of humanitarian aid. Power is also expected to have a seat on the National Security Council, which she also held during the Obama administration. Power has been a staunch supporter of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States.
