Kremlin: Pashinyan hasn't asked Putin for help

PanARMENIAN.Net - Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has not discussed Moscow's possible assistance amid a crisis on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday, May 14.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province).

"Pashinyan did not ask for help. Of course, the Armenian side expressed extreme concern about the situation on the border," Peskov said, TASS reports.

"This concern was shared by President Putin. And President Putin emphasized the need to fulfill all the provisions of the trilateral agreements, and first of all the one about the ceasefire."
