Hayastan bloc contests Armenia election results via top court

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hayastan, Armenia's chief opposition alliance led by second president Robert Kocharyan, has asked the Constitutional Court to overturn the results of the June 20 parliamentary elections, court spokesperson Yeva Tovmasyan said on Friday, July 2.

The application demanding the annulment of results or the organization of a second round of elections was registered with Armenia's top court on Friday, Tovmasyan added.

No other applications have been submitted as of Friday morning, although "I have Honor" bloc said earlier they too were going to take the matter to the Constitutional Court.

Acting prime minister Nikol Pashinyan's party won 53.91% of the vote at parliamentary elections last month with Kocharyan's Armenia (Hayastan) political bloc trailing with 21.9%.

International observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said the elections were competitive and generally well-managed.
