First session of Armenia's new parliament slated for August 2![]() July 19, 2021 - 18:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The first session of the newly-elected Armenian parliament will be held on August 2, Secretary of the Central Electoral Commission Armen Smbatyan said on Monday, July 19, Pastinfo reports. "The CEC will prepare the protocol for registering the mandates this week, and the first sitting of the National Assembly will be convened on the second Monday after that," Smbatyan said. Caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 54% of the vote, while Hayastan (Armenia) bloc headed by second President Robert Kocharyan secured 22% of the ballots. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
