Armenia not negotiating exchange of territories, Foreign Ministry says![]() August 18, 2021 - 15:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is not negotiating the exchange of territories with any country, the Foreign Ministry has told Hetq. The media outlet's inquiry came after the Ministry of Defense confirmed earlier the deployment of more Russian troops along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Hetq.am was the first, however, to report that Russian soldiers had set up a checkpoint in the Voskepar border community of Tavush and published videos of a Russian flag waving above a house along the Armenia-Georgia interstate road. The Foreign Ministry confirmed its involvement in the process but said that the Defense Ministry is the competent authority from the Armenian side. The Foreign Ministry also said that the deployment of Russian checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is based on a broad legal framework signed between Armenia and Russia in various areas of cooperation since 1991. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
