Azerbaijani Foreign Minister meets with Russia's Minsk Group envoy

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Monday, August 30 met with the new Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Khovaev who is currently visiting Baku, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.

According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the current situation in the region, the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on Karabakh and the implementation of confidence-building measures.

Azerbaijani forces violated Armenia’s border in several sections in the provinces of Syunik and Gegharkunik on May 12 and 13 and are still refusing to withdraw their troops from the area. Since then, almost a dozen Armenian servicemen have been killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting, a dozen others have been wounded, while six troops were captured on May 27, although four of them have already returned home.
