President invites WHO chief to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Armen Sarkissian on Thursday, September 16 met with the Secretary General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva and invited him to visit Yerevan to participate in the third Armenian Summit of Minds scheduled for October 23-24, Sarkissian's office reveals.

The President proposed to organize a discussion at the summit on innovative coronavirus treatments and the prevention of its new manifestations

During the meeting, the two expressed concern that Armenia is still among the countries with low vaccination rates and has recently found itself in the red zone, which implies possible restrictions for the country and its citizens. They agreed that the road to overcoming the situation is through an affordable, safe and effective vaccination process.

Armenia is currently using AstraZeneca, Sputnik-V, Sinopharm and CoronaVac vaccines to inoculate people aged above 18. The vaccination program rolled out across the country in mid-April, with health authorities also setting up mobile vaccination facilities near shopping malls and on major streets in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
