Minister: Large Iranian companies to invest in Meghri free economic zone

PanARMENIAN.Net - Several large Iranian companies are preparing to invest in the Meghri free economic zone in Armenia's south, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporters after a government meeting on Thursday, November 18.

The government will most likely discuss the investment proposal at the next meeting, he added, according to Sputnik Armenia.

Kerobyan visited Meghri in January and wrote on his Facebook that he discussed the possibility of an early activation of the free zone on the border with Iran.

Established in the town of Meghri town, Syunik province in December 2017, the free economic zone serves industrial and logistic purposes in the sphere of agriculture, manufacturing, electricity supply, trade, transportation and economy storage, professional and technical activity, culture, tourism, entertainment and recreation.
