Health Minister: Omicron variant quite widespread among children

PanARMENIAN.Net - Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan has said the Omicron variant is quite widespread among children, adding that pediatric medical centers are working hard to treat all the kids who need hospitalization.

Avanesyan noted on Thursday, February 3 that in the case of the "omicron" strain of the coronavirus, the symptoms of the disease are similar to those of the flu, with patients coughing, sneezing, and having fever.

The Minister noted that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus causes less severe disease than the Delta variant. According to her, not all hospital beds are occupied across the country for now.

Armenia has set a new record with the number of new Covid-19 cases registered in the past day.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the country grew by 4388 to reach 379,266 on Thursday. So far, 343,714 people have recovered, 8065 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 1543 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
