 Turkish paper lists 10 Russian regions as "autonomous Turkic republics" February 18, 2022 - 13:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Turkish newspaper Karar has published an article about Bashkortostan, a republic in Russia, listing 10 Russian regions as "Turkic republics" that do not have sovereignty, Gazeta.ru reports. After a story about Bashkiria, the author of the article named "seven independent Turkic republics", mentioning, among other things, the territory of Northern Cyprus, which is not recognized by anyone (except Turkey), as a separate state. “In addition, there are autonomous Turkic republics that do not have independence. Most of them are located in Russia. Various groups of Turkic peoples live in the autonomous Turkic republics,” the article said. Among such territories are cited Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Chuvashia, Tuva, Yakutia, Altai, Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, Khakassia, Karachay-Cherkessia. The article also names autonomous regions with a Turkic population, including Gagauzia (Moldova), the Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic (Azerbaijan), Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan) and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (China).
