Parliament fails to elect new Armenia President

PanARMENIAN.Net - The parliament on Wednesday, March 2 failed to elect Minister of High Tech Industries Vahagn Khachaturyan as Armenia's new president.

The opposition refused to take part in the vote, while the ruling Civil Contract party does not have sufficient representation, since it is necessary to gather at least 80 votes, and Civil Contract has only 71 lawmaker.

In the second round, 64 votes are enough to elect the president.
