Aliyev: Armenia accepts Azerbaijan's proposal for peace![]() April 11, 2022 - 10:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has accepted the document submitted by Azerbaijan on five principles to normalize bilateral ties following the 44-day war against Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Saturday, April 9, Daily Sabah reports. Aliyev made the remarks to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call in which the two exchanged views on relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's presidency said in a statement. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared earlier that the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh should be the subject of negotiations. He confirmed that the proposals consisting of 5 points presented by Azerbaijan acceptable for Yerevan, but said they do not complete the peace agenda. On Saturday, Aliyev on Putin discussed establishing a working group to prepare a peace agreement, the establishment of a commission on the delimitation of borders and the activities of a working group on transport issues with the involvement of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia. The two also spoke during the April 6 meeting between Aliyev and Pashinian with the mediation of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in Brussels. Pashinyan and Aliyev have agreed to convene a joint border commission by the end of April, whose mandate will be to delimit the bilateral border between the two countries and ensure a stable security situation along, and in the vicinity of, the borderline. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
