PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan will perceive the allocation of funds by other countries for the armament of Armenia as "an unfriendly step", Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said Tuesday, April 12.

"I believe that in order to establish peace in the region, it is necessary to put an end to the armament of Armenia," Aliyev said, claiming that Yerevan has no money to purchase weapons.

"If money is again allocated for the armament of Armenia, we will regard this as an unfriendly step and will act in accordance."

According to Aliyev, if Yerevan had not been given loans for the purchase of weapons, then "things would not have come to a war".

The Second Karabakh war lasted 44 days and ended when Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev signed a ceasefire statement on November 9, 2020. Under the deal, the Armenian side returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
