Dr. Nora Arissian appointed Syria’s ambassador to Armenia![]() May 10, 2022 - 10:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Dr. Nora Arissian has been appointed Syria’s ambassador to Armenia, according to a decree signed by President Bashar al-Assad. Arissian holds a PhD in Modern History and has published several books, including about the Armenian Genocide. Her latest piece chronicles the lives of Syrian women parliamentarians between 1960 and 1985. Syria has a sizeable Armenian community whose members are either of full or partial Armenian descent. Syria also served as a refuge for Armenians who fled the Armenian Genocide between 1915 and 1923. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
