Pashinyan: Azerbaijan pursues aggressive policy towards Armenia, Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan continues to pursue an aggressive policy towards Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations on Wednesday, May 11, Armenpress reports.

Pashinyan said the Azerbaijanis tell the European Union and the United States that Armenia is a pro-Russian country, or that a proxy government is running the country.

"Then they go to Russia and say that Armenia is a pro-Western country, building relations with the West," Pashinyan said. "They sometimes say Armenia has a government established by the West through a color revolution, which works against Russia.".

The Prime Minister noted that there is evidence of Azerbaijan's policy.

"The objective reality is that there is evidence to substantiate this position, because Armenia is a strategic ally of Russia, a CSTO member, a member of the EAEU, and has very warm and close relations with Russia," Pashinyan said.

"On the other hand, relations between Armenia and the European Union and the EU member states are deepening, because the European Union is Armenia's main partner in the field of democratic reforms."

During his trip in the Netherlands, Pashinyan will have meetings with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, President of the Senate of the Netherlands Jan Anthonie Bruijn and Speaker of the House of Representatives Vera Bergkamp. The Armenian PM will also meet with members of the foreign relations committees of both Houses of parliament, as well as with representatives of the Dutch business community.
