Baku yet to respond to Yerevan's proposal to start consultations

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan has offered Baku to start consultations between Foreign Ministers on a possible future peace agreement, but no response has been received, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

Mirzoyan was asked by the Armenian service of RFE/RL about the remarks of Azerbaijani President Ulham Aliyev, who claimed that Baku's proposal to start working on a peace agreement has not yet received a response from the Armenian side.

"Both publicly and on the international arena, as well as during contact with Azerbaijan, the Armenian side has repeatedly stated that we are consistent in our agenda of peace, that we do not consider anything unacceptable in Azerbaijan's proposals for a future peace treaty, naturally complementing those suggestions with our ideas," Mirzoyan said.

Through the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, we have conveyed to Azerbaijan our proposal for a comprehensive peace agenda, but so far we have not heard any official response."

Contrary to the claims of the President of Azerbaijan, Mirzoyan said, not only did Armenia not reject, but it also responded positively to the offer of peace talks, and is now waiting for Azerbaijan's response.

"At the same time, we have proposed to Azerbaijan to start consultations between the Foreign Ministers on the peace agreement, but so far we have not received a response. The Republic of Armenia reaffirms its readiness to start consultations on a peace agreement the day before," he added.
