Naryshkin: Russia ready to help Armenia reform state security agencies

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia is ready to assist Armenia in reforming its security agencies, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin told reporters in Yerevan on Monday, July 18.

“Reforming the National Security Service, creating a separate foreign intelligence service is within the competence of the political leadership of Armenia," Naryshkin said, according to TASS.

"In whatever format we work with our esteemed colleagues and partners, we will provide any methodological assistance and support.

"We will continue to interact reliably and consistently, as we have done to this day, because we have a large amount of common tasks that we must solve."

According to him, security in the South Caucasus region is determined by many areas of cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the spheres of economy, culture, politics and the military.

It was reported earlier that authorities in Armenia were planning to create a Ministry of Internal Affairs and a foreign intelligence agency. Three agencies are going to be merged into the Interior Ministry: the Police, the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Migration Service.
