Iran will “resist scenario damaging” border with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran will resist any scenario that would damage the Iranian-Armenian border, the Islamic Republic’s embassy in Yerevan said in a statement, according to 1lurer.am.

The embassy said Iran has clearly expressed its position on the developments in the region and its relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"Iran is against the violation of the territorial integrity and borders of neighboring countries and will especially resist any scenario that would damage the Iranian-Armenian border, which is a historical route that connects the two neighboring countries,” the embassy said in a statement.

“Our principled position was reiterated during the telephone conversation between the President of the Republic of Iran and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, as well as between the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan.”

In phone talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov, Iran’s chief diplomat Amir Abdollahian expressed concern over the new phase of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and reiterated that the Iranian-Armenian border is a historical route and should remain unchanged, the embassy said.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said on Friday morning that no significant incidents were registered overnight. 135 Armenians have been confirmed dead so far.
