"Azerbaijan's appetite is only growing" - Armenia wants to hear Russia's position![]() October 13, 2022 - 12:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan's appetite is only growing: it's now not just about Nagorno Karabakh, although problems there have not been resolved there, but also about the sovereign territories of Armenia, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, October 12. Mirzoyan said in Astana that there are many issues on which Armenia wants to hear the clear position of the Russian Federation. "We are fully committed to the three trilateral statements of the heads of our states. We appreciate the personal contribution of President Vladimir Putin and Russia to the establishment of peace and normalization of relations with Azerbaijan," Mirzoyan said. "At the same time, we see that Azerbaijan's appetite is only growing, it is not only about Nagorno Karabakh, although the problems there have not been resolved, but also about the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia. Here we, Armenia, as you said, Russia's sympathizer and strategic partner, expect a clear position of the Russian Federation." Mirzoyan noted that the issue has been discussed at the UN Security Council session, and some countries, with which Armenia doesn't have a long history of friendship and strategic partnership, made statements that reflect the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border more objectively and clearly. "The situation is developing intensively; negotiations are going on intensively. There are many parties that offer their mediation efforts, approaches, and platforms. It is very important for us to know Russia's position on these issues. We want to feel the support of Russia and move forward in the direction of the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the spirit of trilateral agreements. We are ready for that," Mirzoyan emphasized. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel earlier reached an agreement that will see a civilian EU mission head to the countries' border to assess the situation. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
