Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan summit in the works, sources say

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev could meet in Russia and hold trilateral talks with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Vedomosti reported a diplomatic source as saying on Sunday, October 23.

According to him, preparations began after Putin's speech at the CIS summit in Astana on October 14, where they discussed the territorial disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Another Vedomosti source has noted that such negotiations may take place in the final days of October, with Moscow and Sochi considered as the main places for the meeting.

“Most likely, the choice will fall on Sochi,” he said.

Earlier, two meetings between Pashinyan and Aliyev – one with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the other with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron – took place in Prague at the summit of the European Political Community on October 6-7. Macron's summit, which was attended by European Council President Charles Michel, ended with the adoption of a statement, in which Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed the 1991 declaration on the recognition of each other's territorial integrity.
