Armenians of Javakhk live on their landApril 17, 2009 - 23:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of RA NAS Institute of History Ashot Melkonyan expressed his worries on regress of Armenian-Georgian relations. He finds problem of Javakhk may become more complicated and that is why Armenia jointly with Georgian authorities has to solve employment issues and secure rights of Armenians of Javakhk. "Regardless of Georgian resistance, finally it has to accept that Armenians live here on their land," said Ashot Melkonyan. He also mentioned that although there were sad periods in history of Armenian-Georgian relations, the counties have all preconditions for better future. The population of Samtskhe Javakheti region totals 238 thousand, 53% of which are Armenians. In Akhakalak and in Ninotsminda Armenians make 91.3% and 89.6% of the population respectively. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
