Lachin escalation complicates Yerevan-Baku peace process, says Moscow![]() December 26, 2022 - 15:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The escalation around the Lachin corridor complicates the work on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS. “Undoubtedly, incidents like the current escalation around the Lachin corridor cannot but complicate the background for negotiations, including on a peace treaty”, Galuzin said. “The Russian side is making vigorous efforts to resolve the situation on the ground. We look forward to resuming joint work on all tracks of the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization as soon as possible.” The Deputy Foreign Minister said the timing of the approval of the document is not that important given the current situation. “The main thing is that Baku and Yerevan reach a mutually acceptable solution that would guarantee a stable and just peace in the region," the diplomat added. According to him, the Russian side is ready to assist the negotiation process under the trilateral statement of the leaders Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia following the results of the Sochi summit on October 31. For over two weeks now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists.
