Armenia to provide AMD 4 billion in aid to Nagorno-Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will provide 4 billion AMD (around $10 million) in additional support to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Prime Minister said on Thursday, December 29.

Pashinyan told a Cabinet meeting that a working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan will be formed to support efforts of managing the humanitarian crisis in Karabakh. The working group will monitor humanitarian issues together with the authorities of Nagorno Karabakh and provide the necessary urgent support, including with the help of international organizations.

The Ministers of Health, Labor and Social Affairs, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, as well as representatives of other departments will also be involved in the work.

“The issue of providing additional support of 4 billion AMD to Nagorno Karabakh is included in the package of non-reportable issues at today's Cabinet meeting. It is an absolute necessity to provide necessary humanitarian, social and psychological support to the people of Nagorno Karabakh,” Pashinyan noted.

“Raising international awareness of the humanitarian crisis should also become part of our daily work. Partner states, international organizations should be informed in detail about the humanitarian crisis and the worsening of the situation.”

For over 15 days now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists. Azerbaijan had also deprived the people of Karabakh of gas supplies.
