Russian peacekeepers report ceasefire violation in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Russian Defense Ministry has reported a ceasefire violation in the Martakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

“At thirty observation posts, Russian peacekeepers conduct round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and ensure compliance with the ceasefire,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, February 21.

No casualties were reported in the violation.

“The command of the Russian peacekeepers continues the negotiation process with the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides on the resumption of the unhindered movement of road transport along the Stepanakert-Goris road,” the Russian Defense Ministry added.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
